I know I made the right choice.

Happy Easter! Easter is definitely one of my favorite holidays.  Right behind Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love Easter because I remember my Savior so much more.  At Christmas you get all caught up in silly things, but Easter is so happy.  It’s spring!  And He is Risen! Everything is new, and it reminds me of new beginnings because that’s what Christ did for us.

General Conference just happened to fall on Easter this year, didn’t it?  How wonderful!

My general conference was a little different than years past.  I thought of my dear friends in Italy.  It seems that only yesterday was General Conference in Mestre.  We had so many investigators come and we were busy translating!  Every talk was so meaningful and potent.  General Conference is Christmas for missionaries because you are listening so intently for a talk that will answer your prayers, but also the prayers of your investigators, your companion, your members, and your family back home.

We started out the weekend right going to our mission reunions!  It was so fun!  I saw Frani my old ward mission leader in Mestre.  We even bought Dallin’s favorite… Arby’s before the drive back to St. Geezy  (I still can’t believe how much he loves Arby’s…).

This year for General Conference I went to St. George and spent the weekend pool-side, getting a sunburn red enough to set me on fire (and keep me awake tonight to write this).  We listened to the Saturday sessions over the radio, holding hands between the lawn chairs.  Every talk was so perfectly catered for us it was unreal.  Marriage and family, anyone? I kept poking Dallin while his eyes were closed and asked him if he was listening.  He was.  He just smiled at me and squeezed my hand and told me that he loved me. I’d say it was a successful weekend because I think I’ve convinced him that we eventually need to have 12 kids.  But we’ll see, we’ll see 🙂 (#kidding…)

After the sessions on Saturday we went to a little festival in the cute downtown area of St. George.  On the way there Dallin threw his baseball hat on me and took me to get ice cream.  With newly freckled faces, shorts, and old flip flops, we wandered the little festival looking at all the old paintings and listening to the local high school choir sing praises to Jesus.  It was perfect.

My favorite was Sunday.  We just cuddled and watched all the talks on the giant lovesack in the family room.  Dallin teased me for eating all of the easter chocolate. We sang quietly together as the congregation sang, and we learned so many things.

My favorite moment of it all though was at the end.  Dallin closed his eyes, and the choir was singing one of my favorite hymns.  But Dallin just had this sweet smile on his face shining through his beard.  I was humming along to “Lord I Would Follow Thee” when Dallin opens his eyes, kisses me on the cheek and says, “I know I made the right choice.”

On our drive home we talked about conference.  We talked about the beautiful and the hard things in the world.  We talked about how our parents raised us, and we talked about what we want to do for our own children.

It was just so perfect.  And I’m telling you, I have never been so happy in my entire life.

I know I’m making the right choice too.  I know I ‘m marrying someone who honors his priesthood, loves his Savior, and keeps his covenants.

And I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to begin the most exciting chapter of my life.

And I know my Heavenly Father loves me, because He answered so many of my prayers and little fears this weekend 🙂  I know He can for you too, if you just listen and trust in Him and His timing.

He lives. He lives, and He helps us conquer death and everything else every single day.  I love Him.

And I love Dallin too.

25 MORE DAYS PEOPLE.

Love,

Emma
